Is it important for me to volunteer?
Yes! Success at the Multicultural Learning Center depends largely on the family/school partnership.
What is asked of me?
Every MLC family should commit to at least 30 hours of volunteer time per year.
(That's just 3 hours per month!)
How can I volunteer?
There are so many possible ways to volunteer! Here are just a few examples:
- Help a teacher in the classroom
- Cut, fold, staple, collate, stuff envelopes at home
- Escort a field trip
- Do an art project or cooking project in a classroom
- Serve on Parent Council or on a Parent Council Committee
- Help with a fundraiser or school event
- Help in the Library
- Help with gardening and planting
- Tutor in English or Spanish
- Serve on a Challenge Committee
Whom do I contact regarding volunteering?
Depending on the type of volunteer work you are interested in, you may:
- contact Laurie Cousins, a proud MLC Parent & our Volunteer Coordinator;
- talk to your child's teacher at drop-off or pick-up, email the teacher, or leave a phone message for him/her with the front office;
- contact your child's room parent;
- leave a message for the librarian;
attend a Parent Council meeting (second Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm) or a Challenge Committee meeting;
drop by the front office.How are my volunteer hours recorded?
Log your volunteer hours in the "Volunteer Log Laptop" located in the front office. Simply Sign-in on the laptop to record dates, times, and activities performed.
