Volunteering...
       It Makes OUR World Go Round!
MLC Parent Partnership
"Collaborating with MLC to help educate our children"

Is it important for me to volunteer?
Yes! Success at the Multicultural Learning Center depends largely on the family/school partnership.

What is asked of me?
Every MLC family should commit to at least 30 hours of volunteer time per year.
(That's just 3 hours per month!)

How can I volunteer?
There are so many possible ways to volunteer!  Here are just a few examples:
  • Help a teacher in the classroom
  • Cut, fold, staple, collate, stuff envelopes at home
  • Escort a field trip
  • Do an art project or cooking project in a classroom
  • Serve on Parent Council or on a Parent Council Committee
  • Help with a fundraiser or school event
  • Help in the Library
  • Help with gardening and planting
  • Tutor in English or Spanish
  • Serve on a Challenge Committee
Whom do I contact regarding volunteering?
Depending on the type of volunteer work you are interested in, you may:
  • contact Laurie Cousins, a proud MLC Parent & our Volunteer Coordinator;
  • talk to your child's teacher at drop-off or pick-up, email the teacher, or leave a phone message for him/her with the front office;
  • contact your child's room parent;
  • leave a message for the librarian;
  • attend a Parent Council meeting (second Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm) or a Challenge Committee meeting;
  • drop by the front office.
How are my volunteer hours recorded?
Log your volunteer hours in the "Volunteer Log Laptop" located in the front office.  Simply Sign-in on the laptop to record dates, times, and activities performed.
